Withoos Research Project
Matthias Withoos (1627-1703) is a Dutch Painter from Amersfoort and was also known as Calzetta Bianca and Calzetti. He was a painter of still lifes and city scenes, best-known for the details of insects, reptiles and undergrowth in the foreground of his pictures.
The Withoos Research Project is an initiative of Albert Boersma.
The purpose of the Withoos Research Project is to organize and categorize research on Matthias Withoos, with the aim of discovering new facts about this Dutch Golden Age painter and his children (Frans, Pieter, Alida Johannes en Maria), who were also painters.
